The Design Request
Create a graphic promoting FSU's "Golden Torch Lecture Series"
featuring Darren Criss within 24 hours.
The challenge:
"Don't mention Glee."
Keep in mind - this was a highly anticipated event by students and the staff.
I was challenged to design this graphic in less than
24 hours, and the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Darren Criss was revoked.

My executives and Darren Criss' manager asked not to mention Glee for his support in the American actors' union SAG-AFTRA over a labor dispute with the
Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
​
I supported Darren Criss' voice and opinion,
and so I got creative with my resources.
The PR Team and I brainstormed and thought of how to promote this event
without mentioning his biggest works as an actor.

The Tone:
When I think of Darren Criss, aside from Glee, I think:
luxury, show business, and classy professionalism.

Combining it with the "Golden Torch Lecture Series",
I wanted to create the feeling of a big event for students. Not only is THE Darren Criss coming to campus, I wanted to showcase that Darren Criss is spending time with us to speak about his life and advice to students.
Design Choices:
There are some celebrities where you recognize the name, and some where you only recognize the face.
Darren Criss has the power for both - this is why I decided to focus on his headshot, yet add glamour to his name.
Of course, I had to put his name in gold because he has a strong fanbase that really upholds his name.
I decided on a clean, elegant font that would be legible enough to read but add that this is not your normal campus event.
I used richer colors to contrast the headshot from Criss' manager to resonate that anticipation and excitement many students would feel knowing he was coming to FSU.
And of course, I added the required logos and footer in a way that would not take away from the graphic's integrity and visual design.
